Questions about official Montgomery County criminal records belong with the office that created or maintains the file. This private site cannot accept a request or retrieve a record. The contacts below route court files to the Circuit Clerk in Hillsboro, sheriff reports and booking records to the Sheriff's Office, and statewide criminal-history inquiries to Illinois State Police.

Use these Montgomery County and Illinois routes for the most common record requests:

  • Expungement and sealing: file through the Circuit Court that handled the case

The sheriff does not advertise a separately named records division or special walk-in hours. For court records, the Circuit Clerk offers free inspection of available public files during the weekday hours listed above; copy charges may apply.
